La Casa makes additional programming available for students at an additional cost. The options below are not included in the tuition.
Matisse, Monet and Me™ introduces art history to children and encourages them to express themselves in their own creative way. Each class starts by studying the works of an artist and the techniques used. We then create projects inspired by the artist or their culture.
Dena Marie Maloy is the founder of Matisse, Monet & Me™ art classes, parties and events. Ms. Dena was a designer in New York City and San Francisco for many years. During a volunteer stay in Costa Rica, she was an elementary art and English teacher. Recently, after moving back home to the Chicago area, she taught design at Columbia College, Harper College and The International Academy of Design and Technology. Currently, she teaches art to children at the primary (3-6 years old), elementary and Erd-Kinder (Jr. High) level specializing in Montessori schools and their philosophy. Kim Vulinovic of YogaKids has been offering children ways to balance their energy and emotions since 2001. Students ages 3 and up learn proven stress relieving techniques as well as gain fitness, fun, and educational benefits. Each YogaKids class is tailored to how children learn and play, integrating traditional yoga techniques with language arts, games, music and storytelling. Since yoga is a non-competitive activity, self-esteem is naturally fostered; every child is challenged and successful. This Parents Choice Award winning program employs ecology, anatomy, earth care and life lessons that echo the yogic principles of fun, focus and flexibility!
